In 1994 the Vets side followed up it's thrilling 1993 Championship win with an under the radar promotion as runners-up in North Division 3A.

In an era when League tables were published on an ad hoc basis, if memory serves correctly, the Vets returned to the changing rooms at Townley Park after an epic last match of the season to be told that they had just won promotion. Well epic is overstating it a little - it was a 0-0 draw versus Burnley Grammar Old Boys on a bone hard pitch on which grass didn't feature.

So to celebrate the promotion - or as an excuse for a few beers - we are planning a match between as many former Vets who can make it. The duration of the match will be anything between 60 minutes and 80 minutes with rolling substitutes and breaks for liquid refreshment as frequently as required.

The match will be played on Sunday 28th April 2.00pm followed by the traditional beers and chilli in The Chetham Arms.
