Club Rules

Old Boltonians AFC have been a loyal and respected Member of the Lancashire Amateur League for many years and has not only won major League honours but has provided several distinguished players and officials for the League.

In the course of recent seasons concern has been expressed to senior officials in the club that the attitude and behaviour of some of our players had left much to be desired. The time came for us to take a firm stance, and this letter is intended to underline the fact that we continue to expect exemplary behaviour from all our players and members.

For the avoidance of doubt, we will not tolerate:

  • Repeated Foul or Abusive Play
  • The Repeated use of Foul and Abusive Language, whether directed at our own players, opponents, match officials, league officials or spectators
  • We will play the game hard but in a fair manner, being magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat and respecting the great traditions of amateur soccer.
  • We welcome opponents as visitors, to enjoy our hospitality, and in return expect them to observe our ideals.
  • We support match officials, knowing they do their duties for the love of the game and deserve our respect.
  • We support the League Management Committee and expect them to reciprocate by taking a strong line with us in our stance.
  • Each player is responsible for their own conduct, although the final responsibility must lie with the team captains and managers to ensure that their teams observe the code of conduct laid down.

We extend a warm welcome to anyone wishing to play for the club irrespective of race, religion, creed or colour, provided they appreciate that the wearing of an Old Boltonians shirt is a privilege and not a right; it must be worn with the honour and traditions of this great club. Furthermore, new members must be voted into the club by the committee, thus protecting the interests of all those fortunate to be part of Old Boltonians AFC.
