Old Bolts 0 - Thornleigh A 5

It doesn't get any better than this, the autumn grey sky, a gentle breeze, a glistening dew covering a lush green grass and the regular ex Bolts spectators,  wishing they could be donning the boots and gracing the turf once again...Turton at its best!

The B team set off with a swagger and played neat football and push for the first goal, Milne denied an early goal thanks to a fine save from the keeper and it"s just  a matter of time before the B team take the lead...

Then out of the blue, a major midfield malfunction when Jon Twist, caught in two minds whether to shimmy or make a simple 10 yard pass, ended up playing a two yard pass straight to Thornleigh’s midfield. Caught on the break and against the run of play, the Bolts were outnumbered and suddenly the Bolts were -1-0 down.

Then the "wheels fell off” -  the B team lost their composure, game plan, and wits as they gifted Thornleigh with some awful defending. Before the Bolts knew, it was 0-3!

Both subs came on at half-time but within 10 minutes, Rally Wild went off injured so the team were down to 10 men. Two further goals lead the Bolts to “complete meltdown”  and left their championship attempt suffering a serious setback.

The B team failed to do the basics, a) Mark opponents tight, b) get bodies behind the ball, c) pass to their own men!

A seriously bad day at the office and certainly a day to forget  but then what can the team expect when there were 6 regular players missing.
