B Team 4 - Mostonians 3

The B team scraped through to victory against a sharp Mostonians side in the opening game of the season with a Jekyll and Hyde performance that was pure quality at times and bumbling incompetence at others.

Moston came out of the blocks with some nippy play and seemed to have so much room against a supposedly packed 5 man B team midfield! They had the time to play quality passes over the square Bolts defence for their two fast attackers to run amok however some good work by Lee Roberts in goal kept the score down to just a one goal deficit until the Bolts woke up.

Ross George equalised, then Andy Beardsworth rose like a Jack Russell terrier to nod the second equaliser before Ralston Wild calmly slotted the ball home for the B team to go in at half time with an undeserved 3-2 lead.

But things didn't really improve early in the second half as another lofted ball over the B team defence lead to the Moston equaliser. 3-3. It was time to unveil the return of Jon Twist to the pitches of Turton. Jon once graced the first team but seemed to have lost his way over the last half decade to the haze of true love and wedded bliss. He may have gained weight but he had lost none of his footballing nous, as he helped bolster the midfield and it wasn"t long before the B team finally took control of the match .

Chances went begging and in the past the Bolts would have thrown matches but not this time!

The inspirational MOM Mark Brooks finished off a fine performance with a turn and lob over the keeper to score the winner with 10 minutes left.
