Mostonians 5 Old Bolts B 3
An enraged Ron Manager turned ugly on Saturday and blasted his team for a shambolic fiasco when four of his team couldn't find the pitches and the game kicked off 15 minutes late. With no warm up and no pre match tactics, it came as no surprise when they found themselves 2-0 down within 15 minutes to a team who had yet to win this season!
It wasn't until Milne moved into midfield after 20 minutes that the team settled down and grabbed a potentially vital goal just before halftime when Jon Twist rose superbly to glance a header past the keeper caught in no man’s land.
The game was set up for yet another second half comeback however in the 50th minute, Milne, after a fresh air shot signalled to the referee for his own substitution. (His birthday celebrations/Munich trip clearly taking its toll on him!)
Before the referee had time to acknowledge his request, Mostonians took a quick throw in and broke away to score the all important third goal, taking the wind out the B team sails.
The Bolts never recovered and despite a composed finish from Mopsey Morris after fine work down the wing from Andy Beardsworth and yet another goal from the in-form Brooks, the Bolts B team had no answer to some enthusiastic and physical play by Moston.
"To be given a two goal lead was just the tonic our opponents needed and they started believing in themselves for the first time this season” said an inflamed Ron manager. Finding the pitches was a difficult as finding our form but with the B team finally at home next week, there's a chance the team could get back to basics.
At least this time they will be able to find the pitches!
