Ashtonians Reserves 2  Old Bolts B 3

The B team revival continues with yet another good performance on a muddy sloping pitch resembling a throwback to pitches of the 1980's, when most of this renaissance Bolts B team were born. Of course only Rog Milne can remember those days and it took just him 15 minutes to step back in time and half volley from just inside the box, just like he did in his glory days, to set the Bolts on their way!

With no Brooks in midfield, Horan stepped back from his Rooney role and dictated events with some strong tackling in midfield along with Kilburn - both had an excellent games. The Bolts truly dominated the first half but carelessly dropped their guard and conceded an equaliser but just before half time however a clanger by the Ashton keeper from a  through pass from Tim Entwistle, let in Beardsworth with a gift of an open goal which he duly obliged.

One more Bolts goal and Ashton would have been out of it but shortly after half time, Bolts conceded after careless work on the left. 2-2, The goal  flattered Ashton but still the Bolts pushed for the winner which arrived with 15 minutes left as Kilburn went on what can only be described as a jinxing run which found him one on one with the keeper. He duly buried the ball under the keeper and sealed the points to a deserved victory.

There"s no stopping this team at present and with Radcliffe Boys next week, the B team have a score to settle after the debacle of earlier in the season. With the B team at full strength next week, Radcliffe will hopefully wonder what has hit them- just as Milne did as he left the field two months ago with blood pouring from a nose wound!!
