LAL Cup   Broughton 5  Old Bolts B 3

The crisis deepens in the B team as they slumped to yet another defeat, this time against opposition from a lower division in the LAL cup. It should never have been this way particularly after Barrett's aerial supremacy had put the Bolts 2-0 up after just 20 minutes but like the Banks these days, the Bolts defence also seems to have difficulty protecting its assets. By 60 minutes Broughton had drawn level and were pushing for the winner but it was once again Barrett who rose to nod home the Hat trick and what could have been the winner if it wasn"t for a cruel deflected Broughton equaliser with the last kick of the match that looped over the faultless Sandbrook in goals. Extra time hadn’t been budgeted for by manager Milne, and a further 30 minutes was asking too much of the weary Bolts against a young Broughton team who sniffed victory.

This is the worst run of results in Milne 5 year reign as captain and he will be looking to strengthen the team in the next few weeks. Scoring goals is clearly not a problem but a defence that has conceded 27 goals in 5 games may just need some more serious attention!
