Old Bolts Res 2 Bacup Utd 1
Perfect conditions for football up at Turton as the Reserves tried to extend their unbeaten run to 4 games against a Bacup side languishing towards the bottom of the league. Confidence was high and this showed as Bolt's started much the brighter of the 2 sides but again as has been the case all season they squandered numerous chances as Collings once more proved he is the Andy Cole of the Lancs Amateur league.
Then Bacup with their first real attack scored off a well worked move and Bolts had a game on their hands 0-1.
Bolts went straight up the other end and as James Chadwick showed a clean pair of heels to the Bacup defence he was cynically hacked down on the edge of the area giving the referee no option but to produce a Red card and change the game back in Old Bolts favour. Playing 10 men is never that easy but it's made even harder when you blow easy chances, Collings (again), Turnbull and Neasham all missed when it was easier to score and so Bolts went in 1-0 down at the Break.
Strong words from the Manager Chris Neasham at the break and Bolts came out firing again but still couldn't find that elusive equaliser. Time for another helping hand from Bacup as their defender inexcusably handled the ball in the area leaving the referee no choice but to award a spot kick. Up stepped John Collings who drilled the ball home. 1-1.
Bolts pushed on and went to 3 at the back to push for the winner and it came soon after as John Collings scored his 2nd finishing a well worked move. 2-1.
Bolts still went forward but couldn't finish the game off (Collings!!) and to Bacup's credit they gave Bolts a couple of scares late on but the game finished 2-1 and it was a well deserved victory.
MOM - Mark Thomasson (again)
