Old Bolts Res 1  Radcliffe Boys  5

 Bring Back Brennan!!!!!!

The Reserves 4 game unbeaten run came to an end with a kick in the b***ocks that they didn't see coming from Radcliffe. Confidence was high and despite a few player changes and difficult conditions Bolts started well in an open game and created a few early chances which they failed to take. Radcliffe on their first real attack took the lead, a mistake left the striker with the easy finish 0-1. Back came the reserves and when Neash was taken down at knee height by the keeper as he was about to score the Ref had no option but to give a penalty but inexplicably said the keeper didn't mean the challenge and so didn't send him off. Up stepped JC who fired high and to the keepers left but somehow the keeper managed to get a hand to it and turn it over the bar, a great save but he shouldn't have been on the pitch!!!!!

The next 10 minutes was all Bolts but again poor finishing cost them as Radcliffe with only their second real shot went 2-0 up. Bolts were up against it but playing quite well and right on half time a quick short corner left Neash unmarked on the edge of the area and he struck an unstoppable curling effort into the top right corner to bring the reserves back in it 1-2. Halftime.

Bolts started the 2nd half as they finished the 1st and played some of there best football of the season as Wright, Chaddy, Hibbert and JC were on top of their games. However as it seems to be with the Reserves at the moment they can't finish the chances that are created and against the run of play came the turning point as Radcliffe broke from a Bolts corner to put the game out of reach with a clinical finish. 3-1.

Changes were made and Bolts went to 3 at the back to try and get something out of the game but as they pushed forward the gaps at the back became bigger and to Radcliffe's credit they finished the reserves off with 2 more strikes at the end of the game 1-5.

The result doesn't reflect the game but it shows how important taking your chances is and it's a lesson the reserves need to learn quickly if they are to push on this season.
