Old Bolts v Mostonians
It was a good start to the season for the 1st team playing at home against Mostonians. After 8 weeks of training and five friendly matches, Old Boltonians were as well prepared as they could be to challange for the title again.
Old Bolts started the game with a flurry of chances that came from crosses from Rick McLellan and Ryan Hardwidge - sadly we could not finish. We then saw a great move from Rob Taylor who put a couple of passes together with captain Dave "Darwen" Owen and Chris Hulton to win us a corner. Up stepped new boy Kieran Walsh who put a fine pass into the box to which Dalton cooley slotted home. Mostonians then started to kick our players rather than the ball leaving 3 of their players on a yellow card before the half time whistle.
Old Bolts came out in the 2nd half and yet again peppered the Mostonians goals, only the keeper could keep out the on target shots from captin Darwen, Kieran Walsh from a free kick and Marcus Gavin with a great volley from outside the box.
Nevertheless we continued to pile on the pressure and soon it paid off and with 10 mins to go guess who popped up to finish the game off - yes "Super Bobby Taylor" a fantastic strike from outside the box that was drilled into the top corner of the goal which left the keeper in no-mans land and could only watch the ball fly past him.
In goals for Old Bolts was Anthony Duffy who only had only one stop to make in the first half and sadly when the second goal went in for Old Bolts turned off and allowed Mostonians a consolation goal.
